Hi everyone! It is time for that talk again. What talk you say? It’s mid April and my journey for weight loss started and ended lol BUT now is the time to start again and stay on it. So, yes that’s the talk LOL
I have been married for almost 6 years and I have a one year old daughter and during the time of marrying my husband and having my daughter, I’ve gained over 80lbs. Now, let me be clear. I gained a total of 20 lbs during my pregnancy and once I gave birth, I lost it all. I gained the 20+ lbs back beginning about 4 months post partum. I remember when I first met my Husband in 9th grade, I wore a size 4 and weighed about 120lbs. 17 years later, almost 6 years of marriage and a one year old daughter, I am now up to a size 14 and weigh 215lbs. I am not ashamed to say what size I wear or how much i weigh because it is what it is and i want to be transparent with you guys and my vow is to always remain transparent and honest. I told myself at the beginning of 2017 that I will take better care of my health because a lot of diseases run in my family and I want to make sure I am here on earth as long as I can be and as healthy as I can be. However, as the months rolled by, I saw that I was falling into the same old habits as before. I started eating my favorite chocolate bars and french fries, knowing that they aren’t good for me. So, I started to watch it a bit. I am not going to sit here and say that I cut out everything that I know is wrong to eat, but I did start eating smaller portions. That was step one for me. It is now April and I am tired of being tired, basically. I want top lose weight and get healthy, but if I can be 100% honest, I want to look good in my clothes. I want to be able to wear a nice blouse and jeans and not have to worry about my muffin top showing. LOL Im just being honest. So what are my plans to get in shape, you ask. Well, here goes.
Step 1: Make sure to exercise daily. I am going to implement walking at least 30 mins a day. That way I have some physical activity every day. When I go shopping, I make sure to park far away as possible, but I know that is not enough. I need to get my heart rate moving and some sweat pouring.
Step 2: Implement eating more vegetables. I love broccoli, string beans, and cabbage, but I honestly don’t eat a vegetable everyday and I know that is not good. So, I am going make sure I eat something green every day.
Step 3: Drink more water. I don’t drink a lot of soda or juice, but I don’t drink enough water either. So, my plan is to cut out soda completely and drink at least a gallon of water per day. This will not only help with weight loss, but it will help with my hair and skin which is always a plus.
Step 4: Cut portion size in half. I don’t have to eat everything on my plate. I can split my portions in half and save some for the next meal or next day.
Step 5: Meal prep. I have heard over and over again that meal prepping will save your life. By meal prepping, you save time and headache of trying to figure out what you want to eat for each meal. By prepping your food for the week, you have made the decision ahead of time and you wont give in and drive to a fast food place to pick up something. That is where the downfall happens.
During this process, I will share my progress and the tools that have helped me succeed. I will also be honest and let you know where I’ve failed and how I corrected myself. If you want to join me on this journey, do so and share with me what has/is helping you succeed.
